As the ‘summer’ racing season picks up pace, we’ve a mix of track and road running to report.

South Wales regional champs – 18th May

Josh Morgan had double success, racing twice in quick succession at the Ron Jones Stadium - Aberdare. It looks like he made his debut over 3k.

Soggy SSAFA 5k – 18th May

A happy accident to line up in number order, Gina, Leigh, Kate, Evatt, Huw (missing Rhydian and Katy)

A contingent of Bridgend Athletics athletes across the age groups hopped over to Cardiff’s Bute Park for the first race of the three-part series.

Conditions were good, for ducks. It was a wet night where the rain didn’t ease off much. It was still mild, and the rain didn’t bring the wind – so racing was still fast. Not as fast as the first k marker suggested though. It was positioned much closer to 900m than 1000.

Kate Roberts was first across the line (in her Swansea vest), finishing just the wrong side of 17 minutes with 17:03 and 2nd lady. Her 16:49 PB is sure to be re-written this year.

Rhydian and Kate were flying the flag for our juniors, and Huw proving form in his hopes of gaining a Welsh masters vest in Tenby on 3rd July.

The sun was shining in the Welsh capital for athletes taking on the 10k. There was a near minute PB for Abigail in the mix. And it’s been a particularly busy week for Josh too.
