We don’t just compete, we ‘run’ races too. Each year we host the Merthyr Mawr Lane 5k and the Rabbit Run.
official Opening of the Re-laid Newbridge Fields Athletics Track
Bridgend AC will be marking the official opening of the relaying of the Newbridge Fields track. There will be outdoor refreshments available, under tents if wet, from 11:00am at the clubhouse alongside the track, with a few words and speeches at 11:30am to mark the occasion.

Junior Marathon Challenge
As a team we’ll be running laps of Bridgend athletics track. For fun.
And for a good cause.
We want to run 140.65 laps – that’s exactly a marathon, to raise £1,500 to buy a defibrillator (AED) for the club.
Rabbit Run

Our headline event is the Rabbit Run – a 7.5-mile multi-terrain race over dunes, down the famous Big Dipper, across fields, and through woods. In support is the Bunny Run – a 2k event for under 16s. And for smaller legs there’s the Toddler Dash. A 100-meter run from the Old Big Oak tree straight to the finish line.
Open evening
An open evening for you and your athlete to get a taste of what we offer and how we do it.
On the evening we’ll be running, jumping and throwing just like one of our training sessions. We can answer any questions you may have and you’ll have the chance to meet some of our current athletes.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our home facility at Newbridge Fields.
Merthyr Mawr Lane 5k
Set on the edge of Merthyr Mawr sand dunes, our midweek 5k is an out and back course on country lanes. Helen Jenkins holds our female course record, 16:20, Danial Desta the men’s with 14:34.
