GREAT TURNOUT FOR PUDDING RUN

The Merthyr Mawr Pudding Race returned on 5th December 2021 after a 2 year hiatus due to the pandemic and yet another course change was inflicted on the runners this time removing the one quick section of road and replacing it with yet more sand. The race went off in two waves, the first at 10:00am and the second which was described as a Fun Run at 10:10.   The weather was fine and even a bit sunny although was a bit on the cold side!

The race which was approximately 10km started by heading up the Big Dipper (the 2nd highest sand dune in Europe) before snaking back down the other side towards the car park. From there the new route started by heading towards Candleston Farm down the sandy road but doing a loop of the nearby hilly, slippery field before heading up the stony path to the farm. From there the route took runners down the edge of the dunes downhill through the trees before eventually heading towards Newton Beach. Then a mile of beach followed by another mile of dunes and a bit of water through three stream crossings before finishing at Candleston Car Park to collect Christmas puddings!

Below are the results from all 19 Bridgend AC runners including the time to get up the Big Dipper.
