since 1950

Club athletics in Bridgend goes back to the 1950s. It started with a team at Bridgend Technical College, who became officially recognized as Bridgend YMCA in the early 1960s. And around the mid ‘80s they changed their name to Bridgend AC. That’s when their vest changed to something you’ll recognise today – our yellow and two blue hoops. In 1997 we upgraded our grass track with our floodlight 300m athletics track and clubhouse. You’ll find us training there, running, jumping, and throwing.

Club and country

We have athletes at the very top of their game – competing for their country, and many more that are new to the whole thing. You’ll always find someone at your level to train with.

From 9 years old to super-veterans, we’ll help nurture your talent. Whether that’s on the track, running throwing or jumping, cross country, over trails, or mountain running,  And we’ll make sure it’s fun, while you’re chasing new bests.

Club stars

Club members have swapped the yellow and blue vest for the red of Wales and/or GB colours. The history of our club is dotted with success. You’ll rub shoulders with a winner of a World Marathon Major, Olympians and World Champions.

The core of the club

These are the people that ‘run’ our club. If we’re feeling particularly official, we’ll call them our committee.

Officials

We’ll never turn away an official. We’ll always need track and field judges for competitions. Being an official can take you to local leagues and the world stage. You don’t have to give up on the dream of going to an Olympics just yet.

If you’re interested in gaining a qualification as an official, we can help.
